Trans in the City is an open collaboration between global organisations, corporates and companies to further inclusion of transgender, non-binary and gender diversity in business by raising awareness. Created in 2017 as an initiative between staff at bp and PWC it has now grown to over 250 organisations around the globe.
WHAT WE DO
Trans in the City aims to pool the expertise, role models and dynamism of partner organisations, sharing this knowledge freely with any organisation that needs it.
It is free to join and is open to any group whether public or private, large or small. All services are provided free of charge. Trans in the City understands that businesses, and society, are on a journey and that no one is perfect; there is always room for improvement. Engaging with Trans in the City will provide a safe space to discuss where you could improve your practices and policies, offering a judgement free environment to help start your journey in trans awareness. Through our collaboration we can make the world a better and more inclusive place together. If you’d like more information or would like to join please feel free to contact us. |
TRANS IN THE CITY HAS THREE MAJOR AIMS:
EDUCATE
One of the biggest challenges in driving forward inclusion of transgender people in the workplace is the current level of education around what trans actually is. This lack of education often leads to a lack of knowledge around what a business can do to support trans employees and customers.
Trans in the City works with some of the world’s leading role models, organisations and charitable organisations (including Mermaids, Stonewall, MindOut and FFlag) to provide the information, contacts and expertise to make trans inclusion a success in business.

DEMONSTRATE
Businesses that are more diverse and more inclusive are more profitable. They make better decisions and are more innovative than those that do not include a broad range of experiences and voices. Diverse organisations also attract more talent and they unlock the full potential of that talent.
Trans in the City aims to demonstrate the rewards that being inclusive can unlock for your organisation. By showing what inclusion can achieve, Trans in the City will inspire and guide others to be more inclusive.

CELEBRATE
Celebrating the success of trangender, non-binary and gender diverse people in business is hugely important. There are thousands of trans people in industry and business that are already flourishing and being a valuable part of the professional ecosystem.
Trans in the City celebrates these successes, those role models and the organisations they work for. By showing what trans people bring to the table, it’s possible to demonstrate that trans people are a valid and valuable part of our society. Trans in the City can offer guidance on how these successes can be recognised in your business.
