Trans in the City releases free trans inclusion e-learning course in collaboration with Cool2BTrans and Global Butterflies

Trans in the City has collaborated with fellow transgender inclusion trailblazers, Cool2BTans and Global Butterflies, to produce a free e-learning course, explained by trans and non-binary role models and allies.

It includes the fundamentals of trans awareness, the science behind being trans and non-binary, how individuals, their friends and family are affected and how society deals with the huge variety of different trans and non-binary people. And most importantly, it covers what you can do to help and be an effective ally.

Modules can be viewed together to create an overall programme or individually, according to your organisation’s own DE&I needs.

About the course launch, Trans in the City CEO, Bobbi Pickard, said, “One of the goals of Trans in the City, when I founded it, was to bring free training to as many organisations and people as possible. We’ve run well over 350 in-person trans 101 sessions, and the next stage of what we offer now includes a suite of video e-learning courses covering all aspects of being trans and being an ally. These are free for any organisation that wants to use them trans-positively to raise awareness. In addition, we’re proud to offer trans-positive non-for-profits access to the first edit of those videos to create their own inclusion moments.”

Director of Global Butterflies Limited, Emma Cusdin, said ““It’s incredibly vital for us to provide on-point training content for our UK and international clients and so it was important for us to be involved.  It was a pleasure and honour to be part of this project; hearing from these amazing trans people and allies gives you their lived experiences, which are powerful.  These videos can be used by all organisations, large and small; they will help you get behind the headlines and meet the real people.”

Katie Neeves, Founder & Director of Cool2BTrans, said “I am delighted to be involved with this exciting project.  These training videos will be a game changer for trans inclusion in the workplace, as they can be used by small organisations who don't have the budget for live training sessions, and they can also be used by larger organisations to complement their live training programmes.  Much bigotry and hate come from a fear of the unknown, but these videos take that unknown away.”

The e-learning course has launched to coincide with Transgender Awareness Week 2023, as it’s a time when organisations look to improve their approach to transgender and non-binary inclusion. For further information on accessing the course, please contact elearning@transinthecity.co.uk.
