Trans in the City Releases Trans+ Truths Video for IDAHOBLIT
In honour of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, Trans in the City is proud to release Trans+ Truths - a powerful and deeply honest video exploring the lived experiences of trans and non-binary people in the UK.
Over late 2025 and early 2026, Bobbi Pickard interviewed nine trans and non-binary individuals in locations where they felt safe and comfortable enough to speak openly and candidly about their lives, experiences, fears, and hopes for the future.
Across more than nine hours of audio recordings, participants shared brutally honest reflections on what it means to live as a trans or non-binary person in today’s society. From these conversations, Bobbi created a remarkable and moving portrayal of resilience, vulnerability and hope. Working alongside Eva Echo, the recordings were condensed into a powerful film that challenges audiences to listen, reflect and act.
To protect the safety and wellbeing of those featured - and to shield them from potential abuse - participants’ faces do not appear in the film. Instead, Eva Echo created a series of striking visual images that accompany the voices throughout the video, while Bobbi Pickard composed the film’s original background music.
Bobbi Pickard, CEO, Trans in the City said:
“I’d like to say I hope you enjoy it, but I don’t think it’s a video to enjoy. I think it’s a video to watch and understand, and then decide to do something, so that in the future, we’ll never hear these types of messages again.”
Trans+ Truths has been released as part of Trans in the City’s ongoing work to support trans and non-binary people and to increase awareness, understanding and inclusion across workplaces and wider society.
